Another rally is done and dusted: literally in this case. The Morocco International Historic finished with Tuthill Porsche 911 rally cars in second and third positions, but victory was not to be.
Day 6 saw Michele Mouton consolidate her wonderful charge back up the leader board. Having been over half an hour off the leader, Michele and Fabrizia Pons took full advantage of a broken drive shaft on the leading car to take first position in the event.
Unfortunately, the first stage of the final day played havoc with tyre choice. At the end of the day, and the end of the rally, the most successful lady in the history of rallying was thwarted by less than 5 seconds, following six days of intense competition. Geoff Bell brought home a worthy third place: a cracking 2-3 finish for Classic Team Tuthill.
Here’s some video from Day 6, showing both of our top three finishers in action; note the variety of terrain and traction. Keeping up a rhythm on this mix of surfaces is the mark of true professionals, so we are incredibly proud of all our team for a great result. It’s impossible to be unhappy with three cars in the top five.
Morocco was an amazing event and we can’t wait to come back. Roll on 2012!
