Rolt Rocks the North
Stuart Rolt and Richard Pomfret added another trophy to the cabinet today, with a class win in the Historic category on the 2009 Roger Albert Clark Rally.
To finish first, first you have to finish. This may seem like a throwaway comment but, over a four day-event where a number of other 911s retired or picked up road penalties, and some of our big name competitors failed to reach the finish, this win was by no means an easy one.
As any rally fan knows, speed alone is not enough. Experienced drivers must know when to push and when to preserve. The real skill lies in not just pacing themselves, but mentally managing ones rivals, outpacing them when the road book suggests they may struggle and, most importantly of all, keeping oneself on that fine line between driving fast and overdriving.
For the 2009 Roger Albert Clark Rally, former BRDC chairman, wily rallyist and long time Tuthill associate, Stuart Rolt, used the perfect combination of experience, speed and reliability, to give Classic Team Tuthill another tick on this year’s tally of wins. All of us here at Wardington offer hearty congratulations to both driver and co-driver.
