Congratulations to Tuthill Porsche friends, Howard and Matt Warren, who recently took first place on the 24th Classic Marathon.
This year’s Classic Marathon took place in Ireland: a great spot for a great event that wound its way through the highways and byways of the Emerald Isle. Though both Howard and Matt are previous race winners, this was the first time they had won an event together.
First place for the Porsche came a closely fought, week-long battle with their CES team mates (and fellow Tuthill Porsche driver), Charles Colton and Guy Woodcock.
Taking the Classic Marathon to Ireland for its 24th year worked out perfectly. The island is blessed with great rally roads and spectacular scenery, which were enjoyed to the full. Competitors had a week of well-planned regularities and enjoyable special tests, including visits to a number of private estates, which the ordinary tourist never gets to see.
Howard and Charles have both done the Tuthill Porsche Ice Driving training camp. Howard’s winning car is Francis Tuthill’s original Motor Show car and Charles’ 911 was finished at Wardington, including a Tuthill-spec engine and gearbox. We have also just rebuilt another of Howard’s cars: a RHD car in Yellow which has come out very nicely – more pictures later.
Well done Howard, Matt, Charles and Guy, all at CES UK.com and all those who organised the 24th Classic Marathon. Forza Tuthill!
