Long-time Tuthill Porsche competitor, Dessie Nutt, has won the Historic Category 1 class on the 2014 Pirelli Rally. Accompanied by regular co-driver, Geraldine McBride, their Tuthill Porsche 911 finished almost ten minutes ahead of their closest class challenger.
The historic field left Carlisle city centre on Saturday morning in bright, dry conditions. The rally route covered more than fifty stage miles on roads chosen using feedback from historic crews in past years. All the stages were in Kielder Forest, with many routes unused for a number of years.
“Kielder is notorious,” points out Richard Tuthill. “This is very quick country, infamous in rallying. The gravel stages are fast, but ditches are everywhere to claim the unwary. Maximum points from a comfortable win is a great start to this championship season. Well done Dessie.”
The next round of the British Historic Rally Championship is the Jim Clark Rally at the end of this month. Tuthill Porsche has FIA-spec Porsche 911 rally cars available to hire and drive on every round of this season’s championship – give us a call on 01295 750 514 to find out more.
