Tuthill Porsche is racing again this weekend, supporting Anthony Galliers-Pratt in the Aga Blue SWB 911 at the Donington Historic Festival. Fresh from his grassroots rally exploits and with a brand new International Rally Licence to his credit, Anthony rejoins the GT and Sport Car Cup field for the first big historic racing weekend of the season.
The GT & Sports Car Cup is a race series for pre-1966 GTs and pre-1963 sports cars as raced in the World Endurance Championship in period. Run on an invitational basis and known for a high driving standard and good social atmosphere, the GT & Sports Car Cup is a short season of just four race meetings that attracts some of the most glamorous and spectacular historic racing cars.
The 2018 GT SCC season is as follows:
- May 4th-6th: Donington Historics
- June 16th/17th: International Trophy at Silverstone
- October 6th: Autumn Classic at Castle Combe
- October 19th-21st: Algarve Classic Festival at Portimao
Now in its twelfth season, the GT & Sports Car Cup race forms part of a busy programme at Donington this weekend, including the Historic Touring Car Challenge with Tony Dron Trophy and several more touring car grids, which also include the 2-litre Super Touring cars of the mid 1990s.
The weather forecast looks perfect for racing this weekend and Donington is a fantastic spectator circuit. Anyone who has never been racing before would be well advised to check out this popular historic festival: a great place to see a wide range of older race cars giving it everything on a course with real character.
