Historic racing is more popular than ever, and Tuthill Porsche continues to produce very competive 911 race cars. Our clients have been enjoying their cars all over Europe this summer, with powerful, reliable 2-litre 911s from the Tuthill Porsche workshops.
The first of a pair of 1965 Porsche 911 2-litre historic race cars was completed for Swedish clients in June. As soon as the car was finished, it headed across the North Sea to the Gelleråsen Circuit, for its racing debut in the famous Karlskoga Historic meeting.
We sent experienced touring car technician Chris out with the car to ensure a smooth weekend and to hand our latest 911 over to its new mechanics. All went very well, and the 911 enjoyed a successful and reliable weekend’s racing against a variety of vintage machinery, including Stig Blomqvist in a humongous Ford Galaxie!
A few weeks later, the sister car was finished. Both cars competed in the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix and again enjoyed a reliable weekend, sharing a stable with a Porsche 911 Turbo (930) racer, also built here at Wardington.
Tuthill 2-litre 911s have also raced at Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Spa and in the fascinating Modena Cento Ore, where three of our Porsche 911 racing cars took part in a high speed tour, including hillclimbs and races on the historic circuits of Northern Italy. Our main photo shows Anthony’s lovely 2-litre 911 racing in the Silverstone Classic event.
Tuthill Porsche has more 2-litre 911 builds in progress at present, but we are also close to completing two widebody RSR racers. We look forward to their track debuts in the forthcoming weeks. Contact us to discuss building your own 911 race car.
