We had a useful day’s testing at the start of last month with a pair of Tuthill Porsche racers. Running around the International Circuit on an official Silverstone test day for racing cars only, our 911s enjoyed the dry, bright weather and clocked up some very useful test miles.
The beautiful 1965 Porsche 911 SWB 2-litre had competed in historic racing events at Silverstone previously and was fitted with our latest engine spec for the test. The new engine produced great power and ran without issue for the day, which got us all very excited.
“Our latest in-house ‘Evo’ 2-litre race engine with bespoke Tuthill crankshaft, pistons, our own exhaust and many other parts is an exciting project,” said Richard. “Before going on track, it had been on the dyno and produced figures that backed up my initial feelings from driving the car. Before it had even been on the track or the dyno, I had (in typical fashion) declared it as the finest Porsche engine I had ever driven! My love for 2.0-litre SWB cars is well known and I am now even more bias towards them.”
Sharing the garage was our very latest 3.0 RSR historic racing 911, making its circuit debut on the test day. A brand new car built from scratch, the RSR has our full-spec race engine on slide throttles. Starting the day on treaded tyres, the car moved to slicks when the sun came came out after lunch. Pace was good all day and the new-to-Porsche drivers enjoyed their experience. We look forward to some fun racing weekends next year!
