Classic Porsche preparation expert Tuthill Porsche has transported three rally-spec Porsche 911s over to Africa to contest one of the continent’s toughest historic rallies: the Rallye du Maroc Historique.

Running from 13-18 May, the six-day event will push the three Tuthill-prepared cars to the limit as competing crews prepare to cover more than 2200 kilometres in the blisteringly hot Moroccan desert.

Paolo Faldini – who contested the last East African Safari Classic with Tuthill – will pilot a Porsche 911 RSR rally car. This RSR, built and prepared by Tuthill, made its debut on the San Marino Rally Legend last October and will be a force to be reckoned with in Morocco. Michele Mouton’s former co-driver Fabrizia Pons will partner Faldini in the 911, and the event will prove an excellent test ahead of the Italian duo’s East African Safari Classic outing with Tuthill later this year.

Joining Faldini in a second Porsche 911 is Filipino Martin Aguirre who competed on the 2009 Safari Rally with Tuthill, and who will be accompanied by his brother-in-law on the notes. Sweden’s Jan Hagman will complete the Tuthill line-up in Morocco with a brand new Safari spec 911.

“We are delighted to be a part of the Rallye de Maroc Historique again this year. We will send full support over to Morocco and I will attend a two day pre-event test in Marrakech before we head to the start in Agadir,” explained Tuthill Porsche Managing Director, Richard Tuthill.

“Maroc Rally organiser Yves Loubet has helped make this event very special with some excellent stages and an incredible atmosphere. We were at this rally two years ago with a client, Joost van Cauwenberge, and it was very memorable as Joost finished third on his debut in a Porsche. We’d love to leave north Africa with another podium and, of course, it will be excellent preparation ahead of the Safari in November which we are hoping to win for the second time,” concluded Tuthill.
