Tuthill Porsche is supporting the first tarmac rally for many years in the South East of England this weekend, as three of our 911s contest the London Rally for Heroes on April 19-20.
Run by the Southern Car Club, the event is based at Brooklands, with most stages run around Aldershot. Scrutineering and the ceremonial start takes place this Friday at Brooklands Museum, with rallying proper kicking off on Saturday morning.
Eighty cars and crews will run on Saturday. Competitors will cover fifty stage miles on the Aldershot military reserves, before heading back up to Weybridge for a pair of special stages at Mercedes Benz World, and the ceremonial finish at Brooklands.
Run in aid of Help for Heroes, the rally has been well supported by business and industry. Secretary of State for Defence and Weybridge MP, Philip Hammond, said “I am delighted that the MOD will be able to support the London Rally for Heroes in 2013. The MOD’s estate accounts for 1% of the entire landmass of the UK, and provides a perfect environment for a dynamic and exhilarating event like rally driving.”
Sir Gerald Howarth, MP for Aldershot said, “I am delighted to hear of this exciting initiative. Aldershot is becoming synonymous with military motorsport and this event would be a great one for the spring calendar as well as a chance to raise money for an excellent cause.”
We’re delighted to bring our cars to the event. Here’s hoping for a great result for charity and some Porsches on the podium!
