Tuthill Porsche on the Severn Valley Rally

Tuthill Porsche 911 of Dessie Nutt goes loco down in mid-Wales Dirt Show for Severn Valley Rally

Dessie Nutt is targetting the BHRC top four on this weekend’s Severn Valley Stages Rally, at the wheel of his Tuthill Porsche prepared SWB 1965 Porsche 911.

The Severn Valley National Historic Stages takes place this Saturday: the fourth round of the 2012 MSA British Historic Rally Championship. Fifty cars have been entered in historic so far.

The famous one-day rally is based close to the ancient market town of Builth Wells in Wales. Flying the Tuthill flag is 2009 British Historic Rally Champion, Dessie Nutt. Dessie is currently fifth in the championship, six points behind Dick Slaughter.

Nutt and co-driver Geraldine McBride finished second here in 2009, and are looking to use their experience to shift up the standings. They’ve been seeded third for this event. “With 40 years of history behind it, Severn Valley is a UK legend,” says Dessie. “It’s got fast gravel roads and tough competition: we’ll be up against race winners and former series champions. The recent hot weather may skew the road conditions, but I’m ready for the challenge.”

Richard Tuthill said: “The Severn Valley Rally is a legendary gravel event, with some of the UK’s best stages. It’s the last gravel rally before season mid-point, so it would be good to finish part one on a high. Edmund Peel will rally another Tuthill car, and we’ll be sending out cars that can win. I wish both drivers the best of luck next weekend.”
