Tuthill Porsche racing at Goodwood MM76

Tuthill Porsche is racing at Goodwood this weekend, with a 2-litre 911 and a 904 Carrera GTS in the 76th Members’ Meeting.

We’re off to the famous Goodwood circuit this weekend, for the first race event of our 2018 calendar: the 76th Goodwood Members’ Meeting. Two drivers will be racing with Tuthill support: James Turner in a beautiful Irish Green 2-litre 1965 911 and David Clark in his 904 Carrera GTS. The GTS is one of eight 904s taking part in the Ronnie Hoare Trophy: what a thrill to have so many of these superb sports cars on track at one time.

We’ve been testing ahead of the weekend, at Silverstone with the 911 and at Goodwood with the 904. Preparations have gone well for this season opening weekend, so some decent weather would be the icing on the cake to really get things off to a flying start. The forecast is for a chilly weekend: temperatures under five degrees with some frost overnight on Saturday, but hopefully there will be a little bit of sun in there for the spectators.

The first Members’ Meeting came about in 2014, when the Goodwood Road Racing Club ran an early season event exclusively for members and their guests, doffing the cap to the seventy-one British Automobile Racing Club meetings held at the circuit in the 1950s and sixties. The weekend has since become a popular date in the circuit racing diary, with full grids of historic race cars including classic British cars such as the Rover SD1 and Ford Capri, and plenty of vintage F1, F2 and Formula 5000 machines.

Although the 76th Members’ Meeting is now sold out and no more tickets are available, the weekend’s racing will be available to enjoy online via a Youtube livestream. We wish all of the competitors a fast, reliable and safe weekend.
