The run up to Christmas is usually a quiet time in the motor trade, as customer priorities lie elsewhere for a while. This is handy for Francis Tuthill’s Porsche Workshop in Wardington, as it allows us time to carry out some gearbox rebuilds, ahead of next year’s British Historic Rally Championship.
Porsche gearboxes are reknowned for their strength and reliability when in A1 condition. All of our rebuilds are bespoke for purpose, be that road use, regularity events or rallying on gravel or tarmac. We use only Porsche factory or Tuthill Porsche parts, such as our gear sets, shorter final drive or limited slip differential (diff).
Our in-house transmission engineer was the linchpin of the Prodrive WRC team for many years, working with many of the biggest names in rallying. We know transmissions intimately, and are happy to take on anything from an early 901 gearbox to a 6-speed G50 or anything else, be it VW, Skoda, even Subaru Impreza! Porsche’s 915 transmission is a favourite of ours: we have unbeatable experience in building bulletproof 915 transmissions which go on and on.
Our workshop rates continue to be lower than many other Porsche specialists at just £55 an hour. We are happy to look at transmissions brought in to us, or we can remove your transmission here. Remember, once your car is at Tuthill Porsche, it need go nowhere else for mechanical work: we can do it all in house, saving you time and money.
