Francis Tuthill’s Porsche Workshop at Wardington has been in business for over 30 years. In that time, who knows how many classic Porsche 911s we have worked on? Certainly in the multiple thousands.
It’s tough to imagine working in a generic dealership service environment. Car after car comes in and goes out: oil and filter, oil and filter: all day, every day. Do any of the cars warrant a second glance? Not often. Not so for us.
It doesn’t seem to matter how many 911s we see. Upside or underneath, inside or out, they are all different. No two 911s are ever the same; therein lies the joy of what we do.
Yes, it can be a pain when things don’t come apart as easily as on new cars, when replacement bits are hard to find or when problem solving is not just a case of plugging in the computer and letting fault codes show the way.
But there is an upside. We get to look at cars like this: all day, every day.
