The latest Porsche 911 2-litre race car build enjoyed a successful track debut last week, in a test session at Donington Park. Joined by another 2-litre car which has recently entered the Tuthill Porsche stable to help end a long streak of unreliable racing, the dark red beauty ran very well at the famous circuit.
Our newest 2-litre car cut a particularly stylish dash at Donington as the interior is fully trimmed, complete with wood dash, headlining and even rear seat pads. Tuthill 2-litres are all built to road legal, registration-friendly specification, so, when not racing, the cars can be used and enjoyed as part of normal daily life.
The test provided some great feedback to help set the car up for the final round of the 2.0L Cup series at Paul Ricard this weekend. Six 2-litre 911s supported by Tuthill Porsche are on the official entry list of thirty-five cars, and we are also supporting a 2-litre 911 and the 3.0 RSR of Colin Paton in the Classic Endurance Racing event.
The biggest change for this 2-litre following the Donington test will be a tweak to the engine configuration. We’re replacing some high-lift camshafts that worked well in the flat-six engines most recent incarnation as the motive power for a stunning Porsche 904, but which do not perform at their best with 2-litre Solex carburettors. We’ll fit our own cams and set the jetting up as per all of our cars before shipping it out to the south of France for what is sure to be a fantastic weekend.
