Tuthill Porsche is based in Oxfordshire and completes restoration projects and builds bespoke road cars. All aspects of Porsche rebuilds are carried out in-house, including engine and transmission builds, rust repair, metal fabrication, roll cage installation and full body paint. We are looking for a Junior Buyer to join the team. Within this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing purchase orders and requisitions, liaising with suppliers, building relationships and ensuring the supplier is meeting the schedule of the build plan and the materials are ordered on time.
The working hours in this position are Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00 with a 45 minute lunch break, a total of 41.25 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop current supplier relations for the supply of all parts to support multiple departments
- Negotiate purchases of materials with suppliers
- Building and maintaining a supply base while focusing on supplier development
- Developing good relationships with suppliers to ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time
- Support with the general process for improvement to ensure an efficient and reliable sourcing of materials
- Development of procurement strategy, establishment of purchasing budgets, plans, policies systems and procedures within the organisation
- Negotiate key contracts and contractual terms (interpret existing contract frameworks, demonstrating an understanding of legal principals) to optimise value and compliance
- Ensure that internal operations and supplier activities are carried out in an ethical, responsible manner
- Product definition, attributes and specification cascade for sourcing activities
- Conduct component count
- Ensure the planning system is accurate and up to date
- Negotiate costs down where appropriate
- Manage supplier payments to ensure material planning and production processes are not disrupted
Skills and Personal Attributes:
- Experience in purchasing mechanical and electrical automotive components and systems
- Experience managing purchase orders, requisitions, and possess strong attention to detail along with a high level of computer literacy and competence
- Exceptional communication, negotiation and organisational skills
- Thrive in a pressurised and fast paced environment
- Must have the ability to take ownership and manage the purchasing process from end to end.
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to make timely, informed decisions that consider the facts, goals, constraints and risks
- Porsche experience is an advantage
- Previous motorsport experience is an advantage but not essential
- Able to gather relevant information, identify key issues, comparing data from different sources – draw appropriate conclusions to arrive at appropriate solutions
