Tuthill Porsche R-GT on the Lurgan Park Rally
It’s a busy few weeks for the Tuthill Porsche R-GT car. We’re pleased to confirm that R-GT will return to Ireland for the Lurgan Park Rally on the weekend of July 4th, as driver Robert Woodside and co-driver Rachael Robinson compete in the Tuthill Porsche 997, backed by Karcher UK and the Rushmere Shopping Centre.
“Rally fans still ask me about driving Tuthill’s Porsche 911 R-GT rally car on this year’s Circuit of Ireland,” says Robert Woodside. “Everyone wants to see more of the car, so Richard Tuthill has kindly allowed us to use it in Lurgan Park, which takes place one week after the Ypres Rally: second round of the 2015 R-GT Cup. I’ve done Lurgan Park a couple of times before and always enjoyed it, so it should be really good in the Porsche.”
“It’s hard to say no to the Irish contingent,” said Richard Tuthill. “Since our great weekend on this year’s Circuit of Ireland, people have asked us when the car is due back, to entertain more fans in the Emerald Isle. Coming so close to Ypres means a pretty tight schedule: but we’re happy to send a small team across with the R-GT Porsche so that Robert and Rachael can keep the Irish fans happy.”
Established for more than thirty years, the Lurgan Park Rally has built a great reputation as an enjoyable family event that attracts the biggest names in Irish rallying, driving some very interesting cars. Circuit of Ireland winner and Peugeot works driver, Craig Breen, flies straight home from Ypres to drive a Ford Escort Mk 2 on the event, and the R-GT Porsche will compete against many WRC cars, past and present.
“This opportunity has been made possible by our friends at Tuthill Porsche and our incredible sponsors at Karcher UK and Craigavon’s Rushmere Shopping Centre,” said a grateful Robert Woodside. “We wish François Delecour and Dominique Savignoni a fast, safe rally in Ypres and hope to see plenty of support for the Porsche R-GT at Lurgan Park!”
