A new record: 23 cars shipped in two days

Tuthill Porsche ships 23 cars to four separate events – a new record for our new workshop

The new workshop at Wardington reached yet another milestone this week, when team Tuthill completed preparation of twenty-three classic Porsches for four different motorsport events. The cars were shipped their separate ways over two days.

The twenty-three Porsches included several brand new Safari and 2-litre 911 builds that came together over very tight timescales, the full 2-litre fleet was re-prepped ahead of the next round of the 2.0L Cup and David Clark’s ice-cool 904 Carrera GTS was readied for Goodwood Revival to be driven by David and five-time Le Mans 24-Hour winner, Derek Bell.

The breakdown of the cars seen above and their onward destinations does not tell the full story, as some of the cars we are supporting on these events are already en route and others double up across separate weekends. However, the group seen in this photo was divided as follows:

  • Goodwood Revival: two cars (904 + 911)
  • Adriatic Adventure Rally: three 911s
  • Monza Historic Festival: six 911s
  • East African Safari Classic Rally: eleven 911s and one 356

The 904 and one other 2-litre car will make their way to Monza post-Goodwood to give us eight cars at that event. We also have one other 911 running on the Adriatic Adventure Rally. The main Tuthill team will be accompanied by a number of African competitors for the Safari Classic Rally from November 27th to December 6th.

Twelve Tuthill Porsche entries for the Safari Classic shipped to Kenya last week in six 40-foot shipping containers, also containing several service vehicles, 400 tyres and our mobile parts department. The other cars departed the following day.

Tuthill HQ felt a lot quieter this weekend, but we have plenty of ongoing projects to replace the departed Safari cars. We’ll be bringing those into the workshop before our race mechanics head off to Monza later this week.
