Tuthill Porsche at Tour Auto 2020

Tuthill Porsche 2-litre 911 heads for Tour Auto in April

As we approach the start of March, the workshop here at Wardington is full with cars being readied for events all over Europe. Our biggest ever contingent for the 2.0L Cup is coming together with several new builds in the midst. Some of our 2-litre 911 drivers are also adding other events to their 2020 calendar.

Regular 2-litre entrant, John Bennett, has entered the 2020 Tour Auto in his 1965 911. As all of our cars are road registered, the Tour Auto is a great event for John and his wife to enjoy together.

Tour Auto history

Tour Auto is one of the oldest motorsport events in the world. First run in 1899, it was held again in 1906 and over several years pre- and post-war. The event was reborn in the early 1950s and enjoyed a successful revival. Patrick Peter took over Tour Auto in 1992, inviting cars from the rally’s 1951 to 1973 heyday to return to the cross-country routes which gave the event such a devoted following all over France.

2020 Tour Auto

The 29th edition of Peter Auto’s Tour Auto begins in the Grand Palais in Paris on April 20th and ends in Marseille some five days later. There are overnight stops in Clermont-Ferrand, Limoges, Toulouse and Pont du Gard.

After the crews leave Paris, they have 2140 kilometres to cover on a route including ten special stages and four separate circuits: Nevers Magny Cours, Charade, Albi and Ledenon. A complete Tour Auto village is set up in every overnight stop, both to serve as a paddock for the cars and also to give a focal point for spectators to visit and enjoy the 230 wonderful classics entered in this year’s event.

The social side is equally important on events such as Tour Auto and our regular Italian road trip: Modena Cento Ore. Unforgettable overnight halts with fine food and great company are the norm. We’re sure that the 2020 Tour Auto will maintain the high standards set by this event over the past three decades. Learn more on the Tour Auto website.
