Our friends at EB Motorsport debuted their Tuthill-built FIA-spec 3.0 RS 911 at Donington last weekend, in the final round of the 2012 Masters Historic Series.

Dubbed the Donington Masters Festival, the event was a gathering of classic F1 cars, Can-Am machines, historic GT/sportscars and pre-’66 touring cars, including Lotus Elan, Mini and Jaguar E-type. EB Motorsport ran 2 cars: both built here at Wardington by Tuthill Porsche.

The familiar Light Yellow EB RSR competed in two categories that weekend: one being the 70s Celebration series, alongside Big Red. First practice was cold but dry, and qualifying soon after was the same. Big Red managed a time of 1:16 to snatch third on the grid on its first time out, right behind its yellow older brother on pole.

The 70s series had two races: one Saturday afternoon, and one the following day. Saturday race was wet, the circuit was treacherous but the 911 ran reliably and came home in one piece. “A fourth gear selection problem ran me wide at high speed down the back straight. I got back on with plenty of space and brought it home happy and all in one piece,” said owner James Bates. “Aside from that, the was great fun to drive. We’ve now got all winter to fettle the set up at our Yorkshire base, and come out fighting next year.”

A successful debut is always good news! We look forward to more updates through the European race season in 2013.
